(See also the “From the Pastor’s Desk page for more information.) In the new RMS call process, the next formal step in the call process is to form a Transition Team that works with a consultant to develop a Transition Report. (The first step was to have the RMS-provided Transition coach meet with the council to detail the process, which happened in late July.) The purpose of the Transition Team is to gain a deeper understanding of what Mt Tabor as a whole is doing and to clarify its purpose. In a broad sense, we performed some of this in 2023 when we had multiple home visits to discern who we are and what we want to do as our mission in the future. However, that process and the transition process are not completely overlapping and, further, we will have a paid consultant helping us during the transition.
I have announced via the newsletter and after services that we are looking for people to be on the Transition Team, and I have been given eight potential candidates. I will be reaching out to all eight with the intent to have the team be around 5 people.
I have reached out to a highly suggested consultant, Dominic Palacios, and will be negotiating how we will proceed.
Broadly speaking, we have had slow but steady progress in the transition.
