We have a name for the new ministry!! Circle of Hope
Lutherans believe that Grace compels believers to actively work for justice in the world by loving their neighbors and advocating for the marginalized. Mount Tabor is committing to help some of the most vulnerable, being homeless children and their families. Feed the hungry. Shelter the homeless.

Thank you to all who participated. It was a great contest - 19 entries and 29 voted. Circle of Hope was a clear winner and in conversations after the pick, people resonated with both Circle (round) as Tabor's SLC well-known worship space and Hope as the ministry is helping homeless families move forward toward housing independence. Lee Kruetzer submitted the winning entry. Well done!

Update on where we are at the end of June:
 - The contract was signed and property and builder's risk insurance secured in preparation for construction. A thank you goes to Rodger Cochran for his consultations with Dave and Deb on all the contract and insurance needs.
 - The contractor is Stonybrook Homes, Inc. in Sandy. Kyle Simons is the President and has been a great partner in the bidding and design process working with his sub-contractors to offer discounts and some pro-bono work for our project. He's proven to be a dedicated believer in what we're doing. His Site Manager is Joe Newell. We will get to know Joe over the course of the actual work as he will be in charge.
 - Kyle has submitted the permits and paid the initial fees. He is now working with Dave W to submit an additional city covenant regarding Auxiliary Dwelling Units (ADU's) necessary for the permitting process.
 - Stonybrook utilizes an online project management system that allows good communication with several at Tabor to keep track of all the important construction details, daily logs of activities and ability to contact people involved/managing the process on both sides.
 - The office will be moving shortly to the East Classroom. Dave and Pastor Christine are coordinating this effort. Let them know if you have questions.
 - The second floor is cleaned out and soon the first floor office. When permitting is complete, demolition is next. The order of things will be confirmed and we'll update the website on timing for construction events.

What happens next while the permitting and early stages of construction are moving along?
 - Reminder that one of the goals of +One is to expand our ministry to a new community. This is a new way to look at ministry at Tabor by asking friends, neighbors, family to serve our Circle of Hope families. +One volunteers are people we know who are not currently involved in Tabor activities or worship, but have an opportunity to join the ministry even in a small way that is life-giving to our guests and the future of Circle of Hope ministry. As we talk about generosity, abundance, and gratitude we have a new way to grow community. +One volunteering is for a small effort in time and tasks requested. Asking a +One to join you/us is expanding our community in service. We are developing a list of +One volunteer needs that will happen along the way during construction.
 - The +One list will go up on a bulletin board and Tabor website shortly. Several people have already indicated they are interested in particular opportunities. This list will also expand over time as new needs arise. We will add a section on the Tabor website to facilitate your getting involved, asking questions or comments.
 - We will develop and vet a new logo for Circle of Hope for the congregation to vote on. Sue and Deb will coordinate this project. Anyone else interested in this - let us know. This will likely start sometime in August.

As always, share any feedback on what's happening and ask questions. We're plowing some new ground!

Blessings,
Deb Elstad, Chris Jensen, Dave Warren, Casey White, Stephanie Wilson, Pastor Christine
