I was asked by Pastor Christine to give some background to the original pieces I've written to reflect our Pastoral search in music. So, while I was free composing (brain storming musically) my wife Lanea told me how much she liked the piece, and how uplifting it made her feel.
So, as we talked more about it, it became a thought that it could be performed at church as a theme of our journey together in this Pastoral search, and as such, it was titled "Aspirations". It was performed first at the service that Reverend Dominique Palacios attended when he outlined the process we have began to find a new pastor. It was well received, so I thought I may continue writing pieces as we go through the endeavor, as a Pastoral Search compendium.
The 2nd piece I wrote was performed on February 9th, prior to the congregational meeting and was entitled, "On Our Way", and was also well received. For me, these pieces are inspirational, and aspirational in their conception. Once I start writing them, something guides me to the completion that is much more than just me. I plan to add to the collection
as I'm inspired to do so, and as the search continues.
