GOLDEN CELERY CAN CHALLENGE – KICK OFF JULY 1ST

Once again Mount Tabor will be participating in the Golden Celery Can Challenge to raise food for Crossroads during the month of July. There was not time to get an announcement made up for the June Tabor Trumpet but the rules remain the same. Please bring you donations each Sunday and place them by the barrel. Totals will be published weekly.

So instead of watching all these very high paid soccer players kick a silly ball around during the World Cup in Russia let’s kick in for the Celery Can challenge during the month of July. Please note there are 5 Sundays in July this year so we have an added opportunity to increase our total donation.

Michael King for the Social Action Committee

Please join us on July 4th at noon for a potluck and speaker meeting.

Should be even more fun than last year, because it's not so far away. From highway 89/91, travel 4.5 miles east of Brigham City and watch for highway signing. Any questions: ask Jean Stephenson. For more information please see Jean Stephenson.

Ending child homelessness in Utah is the current focus of the Coalition of Religious Communities.  Bill Tibbets, CORC organizer asked the question, "why is childhood homelessness increasing in Utah?"  Bill went onto the State of Utah website and made the following conclusion based upon the State's own statistical study:

"the number of people in families with children in Salt Lake County that went to a homeless shelter increased by one percent in 2017 but the number of people from those families that were able to find a place to move out of the shelter decreased by nine percent. This shows how rising rent prices in Salt Lake are making it harder for families to exit homelessness."

July 17: CORC Salt Lake Quarterly Meeting, noon to 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church.
