A huge Sarah Bang THANK YOU - I want to thank each and every one of you for the fantastic sendoff and the overwhelming love and support this congregation has provided over the years. A massive thank you for the road tunes (who's the big ABBA fan??). Life in Alabama is good, but considerably more humid! Love always, and my door is always open! Home address:

Once again Mount Tabor will be participating in the Golden Celery Can Challenge to raise food for Crossroads during the month of July. There was not time to get an announcement made up for the June Tabor Trumpet but the rules remain the same. Please bring you donations each Sunday and place them by the barrel. Totals will be published weekly.

So instead of watching all these very high paid soccer players kick a silly ball around during the World Cup in Russia let’s kick in for the Celery Can challenge during the month of July. Please note there are 5 Sundays in July this year so we have an added opportunity to increase our total donation.

Michael King for the Social Action Committee

Church Camping Trip is August 3-5 at Lake Mantua East of  Brigham City, UT.  Mark your calendar!  Come for the weekend or just for the day. Bring your own food and a dish to share for a potluck dinner on Saturday evening.  Box Elder campground is 5 miles east of Brigham City near the town of Mantua. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing and exploring area trails. There are flush toilets and drinking water at the campground. I have booked a group site for 50 and also a family site for 8. Should be even more fun than last year, because it's not so far away. From highway 89/91, travel 4.5 miles east of Brigham City and watch for highway signing. Any questions: ask Jean Stephenson. For more information please see Jean Stephenson.

Ulster Project Utah will be holding a Car Wash at Our Saviours Lutheran Church ( 2500 E 3900 S) on Saturday July 7th from 11.00 AM to 2.00 PM.  This Christian Peace Project which brings together Protestant and Catholic teens from the unrest of Northern Ireland for a month of programmed activities with their American counterparts has been going on in the Salt Lake Valley for the last 33 years. So if you are in the neighborhood come by and get your car sparkling clean and help support teens as they work together in learning mutual trust and tolerance of different cultures.

Annual Crossroads Urban Center Meet the Candidates Barbecue will take place on July 11 at 5:30 PM at Liberty Park

Ending child homelessness in Utah is the current focus of the Coalition of Religious Communities.  Bill Tibbets, CORC organizer asked the question, "why is childhood homelessness increasing in Utah?"  Bill went onto the State of Utah website and made the following conclusion based upon the State's own statistical study:
"the number of people in families with children in Salt Lake County that went to a homeless shelter increased by one percent in 2017 but the number of people from those families that were able to find a place to move out of the shelter decreased by nine percent. This shows how rising rent prices in Salt Lake are making it harder for families to exit homelessness."
July 17: CORC Salt Lake Quarterly Meeting, noon to 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church.
