Tabor Volunteers needed for a Labor Day Weekend clean-up at church! We are preparing with hopeful expectation that God will partner us with a new social ministry organization in Salt Lake in the near future! As we pray, we prepare in faith for them by clearing out the upstairs Lounge (formerly the original church office). Please contact Harry Heightman for details. Thanks!

Crossing Borders (Cruzendo Fronteras)

This was the theme of the 2023 Rocky Mountain Synod assembly. It was an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the landscape, culture, the people and ministries of the borderlands. I am thankful again for that time in El Paso.

Rev David Vasquez Levy of Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services has written a Bible study called Out of the Waters Resisting the Power of Fear. We have permission to use this study to help get to know the characters in Exodus as fully human beings rather than “holy heroes”.

This study relates to the issues of migration which were addressed in the book of Exodus and continue today. Today we actually have the largest number of people on the move in the world ever.

Our church’s commitment is to Welcome the Stranger and we can learn more in this Bible study for 6 weeks starting Sept 24 at 9-10AM.  Come and see….

Los Zapotes Well update from Steve and Norma Klemz:

"We are the deepest well in the region at 285 meters.  There is no way we would have gone that far except for the Tabor partnership and those who followed in support.

The well went 75 meters beyond initial water, so there is plenty of water available.

We will get approximately 10,000 liters per hour.

The meter and electricity were finally brought to the road, closest to the property on July 28. Now we need to connect to the post, purchase a pump and water will begin to flow. Of course, since the well is deeper, so also for pump expenditures. Good news is that we are high up from other households, so the pumped water will run downhill.

Just a note about water piped in from the village.  It is so scarce, that Norma's mother had to buy water from a neighbor to cover what was needed for toilet and shower for us during our stay."
