Service opportunity at the Utah Food Bank, Saturday, February 4th, 10am-noon.  Come help other Tabor volunteers sort canned and non-perishable goods at the Utah Food Bank 3150 South 900 West, Salt Lake City.  Contact Casey White for more information at (801) 678-5049.  Rumor has it that Casey sometimes brings donuts!! 

 

Our Annual Meeting is after worship February 5. A quorum for the meeting is 20 confirmed members.  We’ll meet in the narthex close to the coffee!  The Annual Report has been emailed to all members.  Dave Warren has a report he will share about the wonderful generosity you showed in your 2023 Offering pledges.  Thank you to our council and staff for their diligent work preparing for our meeting today! 

 

YOAKS Bible Study this Tuesday, February 7 and Tuesday February 21 at 9:30am.  All ages are invited to join Pastor David and Regina Reed in this new Bible study group reading the Gospel of Mark. Invite your friends! 

 

Los Zapotes storytelling continues next Sunday Feb 12, 9am-10am in the narthex.  Norma and Steve Klemz will share the story of resilience lived out for generations by the community of Los Zapotes, and how we can partner with them to provide fresh water that helps everyone there in their calling as Stewards of the Land.  Look for the QR code on the Los Zapotes Well Construction poster in the narthex to give your support, and join us February 12, and February 19 for the storytelling!  Thank you for your generosity!! 

 

YOAKS Lunch February 14, noon-1:30pm.  All “Young and Older Adults Knowing Strength” are invited! Lunch is provided and an activity is being planned.  Please RSVP to our hosts Alvina and Dan Wall, or Pastor David.  Invite your friends and neighbors!  

 

“Dinner at Vinny’s” service opportunity is Tuesday February 14, 4:30-6:30pm at the St Vincent DePaul Dining Hall at the Weigan Center downtown.  Come and share Tabor’s gracious and loving hospitality with our hungry neighbors living on the streets.  We always have room for more volunteers!  Clean-up help especially! Please see Casey White if you have any questions.  

 

Tabor Mardi Gras returnsSunday February 19 after worship!  After a three-year hiatus due to Covid we’re celebrating with pancakes, mask-making, and musical chairs for kids!  Invite your friends! 

 

Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent on February 22.  Join us for communion and imposition of ashes at 7pm.  Our Wednesday Holden Evening Prayer focus is on Resilience in our congregation, ourselves, and our world.  Invite your friends! 

 

Tabor Vision Team meets Tuesday February 28 at 7pm.  Watch for Vision Groups signups coming soon in the narthex.  One group will meet at Tabor, one group meet on Zoom, and 5 groups meet in homes.  Groups will be no larger than 7 confirmed members. If you’d like to volunteer to be an in-home group host, please tell Pastor David or Harry.  Groups will meet twice, one hour each time, sharing ideas about how we might be a congregation “boldly going where no Lutheran church in Salt Lake City has gone before!”
