• Music at Tabor

The Mount Tabor Endowment and Memorial committee will be gathering on Sunday, November 13, to review requests for 2023.  The requests considered In December 2021 resulted in numerous donations being made in January 2022 (as noted in last year’s annual report) as well as a spring donation to the Red Cross supporting the Ukraine and additional  funds to assist the Mount Tabor scholarship fund in August.  Please email your requests and accompanying information (email or cover letter) to the church office  office@mttaborslc.org no later than November 7.

October Diaper Drive for Crossroads Urban Center:  you are invited to bring disposable diapers (size 3,4,5 are especially needed) to Tabor in the month of October for the families of our homeless neighbors. You can bring your donations to the blue Crossroads Food bin in the narthex.  Thank you! 

 

Family Promise Kick-Off Event Sunday Oct 16 at First UMC in Salt Lake City:  Our friends at First United Methodist Church (200 S 200 E, SLC) invite us to join them for lunch at noon on Sunday Oct 16 for an information event about the re-start of Family Promise SLC!  Come and make new friends and find out more about the ways Mount Tabor can partner with Family Promise to house homeless families around us.  Please see Pastor David if you’re interested, or have other questions. 

 

Visioning for Tabor’s Future with Deb Elstad continues October 16 at 9:15am.  “Oh the Places You’ll Go” with God’s love to lead us!  Come and share your ideas! 

 

Faith and Science Jams at Tabor continue Sunday October 23 in the narthex from 9-10am.  We’ll view the 10 minute video by a member of Mount Tabor describing how they fell in love with a natural science career as a person of faith, and then engage in conversation with them.  Everyone is invited! 

 

“Dinner at Vinny’s” service opportunity is Tuesday October 11, 4:30-6:30pm at the St Vincent DePaul Dining Hall at the Weigan Center downtown.  Come and share Tabor’s gracious and loving hospitality with our hungry neighbors living on the streets.  Pre-registration is required.  Please look for the registration link in the October newsletter, and see Casey White if you have any questions. 

 

OAKS Planning Meeting and Luncheon is Tuesday October 18 starting at noon.  We’re combining Martha Circle and OAKS folks for our start-up gathering!  Alvina Wall and Pastor David will help us brainstorm what our “Older Adults Knowing Strength through faith” would like to do, study, play, and eat together.  Come and share your ideas, and have lunch with us!  Please RSVP to Pr David and Alvina Wall.   

 

Vital Right-Shaped Ministry weekend with our Rocky Mountain Synod Director for Evangelical Mission, Rev. Dana Peterson is October 29-30. Come to Tabor Saturday October 29th at 1pm to learn about the program, and share your ideas for Tabor’s future! Tabor council meets with Pr. Dana at 9am that Saturday, and Rev. Peterson will be our guest preacher on Sunday October 30.

November Red Cross Blood Drive at Tabor is Monday November 14 from noon to 5:45pm.  Please look for the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the narthex, and see Pierre Pearson if you have any questions.
