The Mt. Tabor Beer Brewing Group will be meeting from 10 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, 10 Nov, at Dave Warren’s house (2086 E Keller Ln, SLC). We are considering whether to brew a double bock, dunkel, or Christmas beer. Even if you don’t drink beer, this is a great time to spend time with other members of Mt Tabor for lively discussions on a range of topics. Given the election will have been the preceding Tuesday, I suspect that it might be a topic. We brew outside; wear warm clothes if you can make it. There is no requirement to stay the whole time (except for the host).

Tickets are $10 each and available at the door, or from Bill Besancon.

Altar Volunteers and Counters Needed

The departure of several active Mt. Tabor members this past year has left our altar ministry and offering counters in need of assistance! Volunteers keep Tabor running smoothly. Please consider helping out.

Altar ministry entails setting out the bread and wine for communion, lighting the eternal flame candle, filling the altar candles with oil, posting the hymn numbers, and a few other simple tasks. It typically takes about 15 minutes before service, and a couple working together can do it in about 10 minutes. At present, we have just three volunteers who rotate the responsibility. Another one or two people helping out would mean each person would get the assignment once a month. We also need volunteers to bake the communion bread. Please contact Lanea Brown at ceomom2@comcast.net if you’re willing to assist with altar ministry or baking.

Counters count and create records of our Sunday and special services offerings, usually immediately following the service. The job typically takes 15-20 minutes, but can require extra time on holidays. Best practices require that two (unrelated) people be present while the money is being handled. When we have enough volunteers, each person can expect to get the assignment one Sunday per month plus an occasional holiday service. For more information or to volunteer, contact Financial Secretary Lee Kreutzer at kreutzer@xmission.com.

Operation Christmas Child

There are plenty of boxes still available in the narthex and I have even more at home.

Categories are boy or girl, ages 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14. Look online at Operation Christmas Child for ideas of what to pack or send me any questions at JLS1113@aol.com. No candy or toothpaste. Remember $9.00 is required for shipping each box. Please bring boxes to church by Nov. 11. You can still bring an individual item or two if you don’t want to do a whole box. Thank you to each of you who are participating to bless a child somewhere in the world. I will again track our boxes so we know where they go. They went to Mexico the last two years.

Pie social will be held again on Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving. Bring a pie to share and enjoy!

Mark the date! We will again celebrate Santa Lucia with worship and Scandinavian treats on December 9. Please come help make lefse and krumkake on Saturday, December 8 at 9AM.

Thanks, Jean Stephenson
