2018 Scholarship Award Winners

The Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that 4 members of Mount Tabor will receive scholarships to help them continue with their studies in the 2018-2019 academic year.

Two of our members have received Scholarships from the General Fund. Philip Goard, who is a student at SLCC, is a first time recipient of a $2,000 award and Eric Jensen, who is also a student at SLCC, will receive a $1,000 award to allow him continue his second year studies.

Two of our members have received scholarships from the Endowments and Memorial Committee. Emma Workman, who is a student at Utica College, will receive a $1,000 award to help with her sophomore year studies there and Cheyne Warren, who is a student at Utah State University, will receive an award of $1,000 to help her complete a double degree in her final year.

The Scholarship Committee is also pleased to inform you that thanks to the generosity of the members of Mount Tabor we have been able to retain a $2,000 reserve as a foundation for the 2019 awards.

Finally, Michael King has stepped down as chair of the committee and Kirstin Maanum is the new chairperson.

Operation Christmas Child  In 2017, nearly 11 million gift filled shoeboxes went to children in 114 countries around the world. Ours went to Mexico.  Here is just one recent post on the Operation Christmas Child Facebook page. After an outreach event in Kigali, Rwanda, a mother was excited to see her daughter receive a sewing kit in her shoebox gift—the mother was a seamstress!  God knows and loves each child who receives a shoebox gift and orchestrates the delivery of each one—a tangible expression of His love. Every shoebox matters. School supplies are the item of the month for August and they are in all the stores now.  Thanks to all of you. Ask me any questions.  Jean Stephenson

Crossroads Food Barrel: You are invited to bring non-perishable food donations to the barrel in the narthex for the local food pantry.  They are in need of canned tomatoes and boxed meals.  All donations are appreciated.  Food is delivered weekly to Crossroads on 400 East in SLC.  Also in need of Back to school clothes (Kids Fall clothing) for the Thrift Store.

Visit our spiritual direction room.  Come up the east stairs, and it's the fourth door on the left(Room #10). Stay as long as you like for prayer, meditation, or just a quiet moment for yourself.  Please put all books back in the shelf before you leave.  You will find things to take home with you as well. Many thanks to Pr. DanaLee Simon for making this available to us all!
