Muslim-Lutheran Service Project to benefit Primary Children’s Hospital
Beverly Jbailat, our Muslim friend who led the Lutheran-Muslim dialogs during Lent last year, has invited us to join our Muslim friends in a service project during Ramadan. Let’s get together to make fleece blankets, craft kits, and other items for the kids at Primary Children’s Hospital. We are planning two gatherings:

  • Saturday, June 2 from 11am to 1pm at the Khadeejah Mosque, 1019 Parkway Blvd, West Valley City.
  • Sunday, June 10 from 12pm to 2pm at Mt. Tabor.

We will provide fleece to tie for blankets, supplies to assemble into craft kits, and possibly other items as well. There will be something for all ages and “crafty” skill levels, and everyone is welcome at both events! In addition, Primary Children’s website has a number of other items that you can bring to work on or create on your own and drop off with us. Check out their website: https://intermountainhealthcare.org/locations/primary-childrens-hospital/giving-volunteering/intermountain-foundation/service-projects-donations/items-to-make/ (or Google “Primary Children’s Hospital items to make”). See Sarah Lange for more information.

Emergency Assistance Program (EAP) – Donations Needed
You are probably ware that Mount Tabor maintains a fund to provide emergency assistance to members of the congregation or people known to us who are in need. Well, guess what, emergencies do happen and this year we have had 2 occasions to dip into the fund. We like to keep a balance of at least $1,000 in the fund at all times and the EAP fund has fallen to about $700.

If you are interested in helping us restore the balance to above $1,000 please consider donating in the near future so we are in a position to help when the next emergency occurs.  ~ Michael King for the Social Action Committee

Tabor hike, Sunday, June 3 to Dog Lake up Big Cottonwood Canyon.  Everyone is invited!
Come to the service at Tabor prepared to hike.  We'll meet after worship (and requisite coffee) then carpoll up Big Cottonwood Canyon to the Mill D trail head~9.5 miles. The hike is 4 miles round trip and of moderate difficulty.  Wear good hiking shoes and bring water, lunch or snacks as desired, hat and sunscreen.  Unfortunately despite the name, no dogs are allowed on this trail as it is in the watershed of Big Cottonwood Canyon.  Chris Jensen will be leading the hike, and invites you to read Matthew 15:27 to prepare! (look up the verse and we'll talk about it at the lake).

The Endowment and Memorials Committee will be meeting after worship Sunday, 10 June, to solicit requests for charities to support with the income from the endowment. You can either e-mail your request to Dave Warren (djw7223@xmission.com), drop a copy of your request in his mailbox outside the church office, or come to the meeting.

Operation Christmas Child - Vladimir and the Toy Car
When he was 9 years old, Vladimir lost his family. His mother died and his father couldn't raise him because of alcoholism. His best friend's parents took him in for 2 years and then he went to an Orphanage in Kiev. This is where he received his shoebox. In it were a New Testament Bible, coloring books, pencils, and markers, but the thing that stood out to him was a toy car. He and his friends loved racing their cars. He began to understand that God cared for him personally. He was adopted by an American family when he was 14. He now lives in North Carolina. He packs shoeboxes and shares his story at every chance. Thank you all! Item for June is toys.
