In a busy world, within the context of our busy lives, it is so important for our bodies, minds, and spirits to be able to slow down, interconnect within ourselves, and connect with the Presence of the Holy One who is always with us, but often goes unnoticed or unrecognized because we simply don't take the time and make the intention to see.  All of us have the ability to connect with God and there are as many ways to connect as there are people in this world.  This page includes some of the practices that I have found helpful for me and that I have felt led to invite others to explore.  Some have audio accompaniments included with the written practice so you can have my voice lead you through it.  Others are simply the written instructions for you to use.  Whether you use the resources provided here or find other practices that work for you, I wish you blessings as you connect with the Holy One who lives and moves and breathes within you, outside of you, among your relationships, and throughout the whole cosmos.

1.     Stay in the room where you are.  Take a deep, cleansing breath.  Look around at this familiar place with a deepened awareness and willingness to see and ask yourself, “What is beautiful right here, right now?”  See if you can take note of three things.

2.     Walk outside or look out a window.   Take a deep, cleansing breath.  Look around with a deepened awareness and willingness to see and ask yourself, “What is beautiful right here, right now?”  See if you can take note of three things.

3.     Go look in the mirror.  Take a deep, cleansing breath.  Look at yourself with a deepened awareness and willingness to see and ask yourself, “What is beautiful right here, right now?”  See if you can take note of three things.

4.    Think about another place you will go later today or tomorrow (your work space, the grocery store, your kids’ school, a sporting event. . .).  Make a mental note to bring this practice to that space.  While there, take a deep, cleansing breath.  Look around with a deepened awareness and willingness to see and ask yourself, “What is beautiful right here, right now?”  See if you can take note of three things.

5.     Practice this the next time you are with a group of people (family, friends, strangers, acquaintances), opening up to seeing the Beauty that exists in every person.  Take a deep, cleansing breath.  Look around with a deepened awareness and willingness to see and ask yourself, “What is beautiful right here, right now?”  See if you can take note of three things.

What happens as you practice this over time?  Are there patterns and themes to what you tend to notice?  What has surprised you about where you have been able to see Beauty?
