Resuming In-person Worship at Tabor

Dear Siblings in Christ,

Pastor David has requested, and the Council has approved, returning to in-person indoor worship at Mt. Tabor. We have put together a plan to resume worship in a way that we hope balances our need to worship together as a community with our need to protect our community. When you choose to attend worship in person, we expect everyone to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status, and we ask that you continue to maintain distancing between households. The worship service will continue to look more like the Facebook live-stream services, with changes from the "pre-COVID" order of worship. Please read the document below to see a more comprehensive list of our reopening guidelines. We will continue to provide a Facebook Livestream for those who are not yet ready to gather in person inside (and we ask you be patient with us as we find the best way to readjust the camera and sound arrangements). We look forward to seeing you at Mt. Tabor as soon as you feel comfortable rejoining us.

Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, Safe Reopening Plan

Updated 6/22/2021

Dear friends of Mt. Tabor and siblings in Christ,

I know that we are all eager to resume worshiping together, in person, as a community, and to get back to “life the way it used to be”. However, we also know the virus is still circulating in our community. We also know our church family, including members and potential visitors, includes individuals who are not yet vaccinated, who are unable to be vaccinated, or who may not be protected despite receiving the vaccine. In the spirit of loving our neighbor and protecting our community, the Mt. Tabor Congregational Council, with the Worship and Music Committee, has established the following guideline to safely resume in-person worship inside our Sanctuary:

  1. Maintaining physical distancing
  • When entering the pews, please use first and third rows in inner ring, and only the middle row in outer ring.
  • Please keep distance between family groups on each row of pews.
  • If we get too many people for these measures, we may designate one section for those who are comfortable not distancing.
  1. Masks
    • We are asking everyone to wear a mask over their nose and mouth, regardless of vaccination status. If you forget your mask, we will have a few available in the Narthex for your use.
  2. The worship service
    • In order to follow CDC guidelines to minimize the risk of viral transmission, you may notice several changes to the worship service. Such changes may include the omission of some parts of the liturgy, changes in parts of the service that typically involve mingling of the congregation (e.g. Communion, Passing of the Peace, Children’s Sermon), and other changes.
  3. We are temporarily putting Coffee Hour on hold.
  4. Contact tracing
    • We will provide a notebook for members or visitors to leave their contact information if they want to be notified in case of a known exposure at church. All information will remain confidential.

The Congregational Council will continue to monitor the situation and adjust the plan accordingly. Thank you for your help in following these guidelines and keeping our friends, visitors, and community safe.
